Part of a relief plaque with Erotes in procession. It was probably found in 1860 embedded into a medieval wall of Aghios Demetrios Katephores’ church, which does not survive today, to the east of the Sanctuary of Aphrodite Ourania. The left side is broken and the right has anathyrosis and a drill in which a clasp was fitted. The plaque’s back is roughly worked.

Four naked Erotes walk to the viewer’s left. They hold in their left hand phiale and in the right incense burner (thymiaterion) or oinochoe. Their hair is long and worn up.

A similar scene is represented on two more relief plaques, ΕΑΜ 1451 and an additional fragment kept in the National Archaeological Museum. Since the latter was found in the excavations of the Sanctuary of Aphrodite Ourania (or else Sanctuary of Aphrodite and Eros), all plaques have been considered to have decorated the peribolos of this open-air sanctuary. The plaques’ stylistic differences have led to the conclusion that plaque EAM 1452 is a later replacement of one of the original peribolos plaques.
